Yes, Great Minds Early Childhood Center is certified by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and accepts children from 1 year to 6 years of age.
Great Minds ECC has a full-time registered nurse who is always on the premises. The campus is monitored by security cameras and both outdoor and indoor areas are carefully examined by the health and safety officer on daily basis. The classrooms and the outdoor areas are equipped with age-appropriate materials. In addition, all staff members are experienced educators who are Certified Pediatric First Aiders and have completed Child Protection courses.
At Great Minds ECC your child will participate in a range of activities designed to foster their cognitive, social and emotional development through the Montessori approach. The activities include individual and group presentations, story time and literacy, art and craft, music and movement, sensory and cooking class, Arabic language class, physical education class, swimming and water play, gardening and several events throughout the year. Gymnastics and soccer classes are offered after school hours. The program in detail is mailed to parents at the beginning of each week.
To find out about your child’s day at the center you should check the center’s communication platform Educore where you receive a daily report along with some photos of your child’s engagement in the program. You can also contact the teacher for updates through the communication platform or during drop off and pick up time where you have the chance to exchange a few words. You should attend parent teacher meetings to discuss your child’s progress and participate in school events where teachers and staff might share information about the students’ day to day experiences.
If your child is not feeling well the center’s nurse will assess him/her and provide immediate care in the clinic. The manager will contact you to inform you about the situation and will ask you to arrange for pick up. Be sure to follow the guidelines in the Parent’s Handbook regarding your child’s return to school and the fit certificate provision.
At Great Minds ECC medical administration is provided by the center nurse. You will be asked to sign a consent form detailing the medication, dosage and any other specific instructions. You may need to submit a doctor’s note if the medication is prescribed. Medications are stored in a secured location in the center clinic.
At Great Minds ECC communication with parents is essential for fostering a strong partnership between the center and the families. The ways Great Minds communicates with parents are phone calls, WhatsApp messages and face to face meetings during working hours. Additional ways of communication include daily reports through Educore communication platform, emails and newsletters, parent-teacher conferences and events and open houses.
If you have a complaint, it is important to address it in a respectful and constructive manner. Evaluate the situation and try to gather as much information as possible. Communicate with the child’s teacher and if the concern is significant schedule a meeting with the center’s manager. Follow the center’s formal complaint procedure, keep a record of all the communications and emails and request a follow up meeting. It is important to remain calm, respectful and polite throughout the process as the aim is to keep students safe and happy.
